Yes, that’s exactly what I did. I just crushed the pill 10mg and mixed with a little water then gave the meds through a syringe to the worst of them.Poor things!
If you are going to give the enro, then you may want to separate out the worst ones and just treat them, it's a strong antibiotic and I wouldn't give it to any chicks that do not need it.
You may find that they don't drink well and will need to syringe or tube the medicated water into them. You can also sweeten the medicated water just a little with Karo Syrup to see if makes it more palatable.
well today was the first time I saw the yellow lesions inside the mouth.Wet feed is a good idea.
If they are having trouble breathing, I agree, that tube feeding would be difficult.
Still no lesions or signs of yellow pasty material inside the beaks?
Yes, thank you for all your help!I'm sorry to hear about the chick
Yes, it does seem that Fowl Pox is much harder on the littles.
Hopefully the others will be able to overcome it.
I'm glad to hear they are starting to improve.Ok, just a quick update. All chicks are slowly improving, and I only had about 4 chicks die from the wet pox. (3 polish, and 1 EE)
the rest are slowly improving, so that good!
one chick in particular has Baffled me! It was the first chick to show signs of dry pox and the eye issue. Well now the area around the eye seems healed, however something quite odd has taken place. The opening for the eye has disappeared for the most part. It’s really something that confuses me, and makes me doubt myself. I feel like I am going crazy. I know this chick had a normal size opening for her eye, yet today I went to treat the eyes of some of the more severe chicks and noticed that I had not treated her eye in a few days. So I pick her up and turn her to her side and can’t seem to figure out what the hell happened to her eye opening. It was normal size a few days ago, and today it is so small I can barely get eye drops in. Meaning the opening for her to see is so small, she will never be able to see from that side again.
i forgot to take pictures tonight, but will first thing in the AM
