Glad to meet you, Tommie, and welcome to BYC. I am so sorry about your duck. I have a chicken with a swollen, sore hock (the sort of elbow on their leg). I took her to the vet and was given a lot of antibiotics for her. And she is now the most expensive chicken in the world!

But what has made more difference (in my humble opinion) was
1. Warm epsom salt bath 2 or 3 times a day
2. followed after drying those legs, by rubbing PRID drawing salve onto the sore hock.

I hope your duck gets better! It's hard when a long time pet gets sick!

Notice that this is a chicken, not a duck, so you may need other solutions, like added niacin in her diet.

Hi, I’m new here I have a question.
Hope it’s okay to jump straight in.
We have a few hens & ducks, here in Ireland. One of our ducks in particular well she’s about 5/6 years, she’s started slowing down generally speaking but today she simply couldn’t move.
We had a nice lukewarm bath for her & had a good look at her legs afterwards as we could see Eden in the water she wasn’t putting weight on her right leg; she wasn’t putting it down at all actually.
My mom touched her legs and she could feel the upper part of her leg was very warm. What can we do at home to treat her? She’s half take as she’s my pet. Just don’t want to see her suffer, can I give her something for the pain she just be in? She’s normally waddling around but not now, she’s just sitting. It started today. Thanks in advance.
