Advice re: when to order chicks

You will need more room than you think for those little fluffballs. I had 18 in a 2'x3' chest freezer box and within a couple of weeks had to add a 4'x4' extension (made from 1/4" plywood and screws.....it doesn't need to be predator proof indoors). This was barely big enough to hold them until they went to the coop at about 6 weeks, and by then they were DRIVING ME NUTS!

murry mcmurray is a great hatchery with great prices another is cackle hatchery is good as well.....I have some birds hatching right now ...I was told zero to four weeks you give them half square foot four to eight weeks one square foot, eight to 12weeks two square feet and twelve weeks plus give them at least three square feet....hope this helps
