advise on repourposing this?

I inherited this with my house. I didn't complain because I knew I wanted chickens and could repurpose it. The overall idea is the build a ramp out of it and build a run out several feet and tall enough (hopefully) to stand in. There is a door in the back for easy access. What changes and improvements should I be making?

Hi, kristaschics15!
First off, how many chickens do you want? if you keep most of it the way it is, (with a screened porch) you can't have very many In that teeny tiny wooden part. If you put wood around/on that screen part, (making sure to build a large door on one side as you do so) the coop can be a lot larger. You can keep that front door a front door for the peeps, install a roost somewhere in the middle of the coop, and use that back section for nesting boxes. It really helps with cleaning if you put linoleum on the floor.

It helps a ton! I had thought of boarding over that screened porch. I have 5 chicks now. You have helped confirm my thought to board it up but I'm glad you mentioned the door in the side!

I'm so glad that I could help! I have six chicks in the downstairs shower right now, peeping away wile the cat stomps around outside the door.

You can enclose the area underneath it in hardware cloth and make that part of the run too. They'll have a nice area to get out of the sun or rain. It's also a perfect spot to throw down some sand for dust bathing in.
