Afghan Chicks: I need an answer ASAP!

I'm pretty sure the eggs are fertile as I have one rooster capable of "insemination" lol. If it is fertile, does it have the potential of further development away from the ideal settings that promote growth (IE sitting on a counter)?

I have not washed any of the eggs. We only have a group of freezers, and utilizing a little common sense I would conclude sticking eggs in the freezer would be a bad thing. But I don't know for sure.

Last night we had one hell of a storm, this morning the chicks were bright eye'd and "bushy tailed" So, I figure if they are able to make it through last night they'll make through darn near anything.

Thanks for the "Freshness Test," I'll def. try it, that's too easy.

Thanks for the Help...Again lol

interesting... if you are in a very warm climate, say upper 90s and humid, would they develope just sitting on the counter? I sure don't know!

There is another float test to see if your 21 day (or older) egg still has a live chick in it... same warm water... just a step further than the freshness test... if the egg floats to the top and WIGGLES you have an unhatched living baby inside! DON'T EAT THE WIGGLY ONES EITHER!

That sound good, really good. The last time I had to ask one of the locals what they do to verify if there was a live embryo in the egg. Well, he took the egg and shook the hell out of it trying to hear for a chirp. I almost laid the guy out I was so mad. I don't know much, but with how delicate you have to be with the egg, I figured that was not a good thing to do.

Gotta go.

Chris.
