Afraid of the Dark

The cutest thing ever, Mr. Duckles is afraid of the dark. When I turn the light off, he will squall and carry on, but as soon as I turn the light on, he quiets down. I’m gonna have to put a night light out in the duck house when he leaves my house. This is my 3 1/2 week old scaredy-cat, LOL. I love him.

Chuck and Buck are afraid of the dark. He nice the sun starts to go down, they're banging their bills on my back slider to come in. As soon as the door opens, watch out! They come barreling through.

At night they sleep in their own next to my fish aquarium. They like the night light on the tank. They go bonkers if it's completely dark.

Is he alone? Hes crying because he cant see anyone, They will cuddle and comfort each other if there are other ducks

He’s not alone, he has 2 chicks the same age with him, the other duck is outside in her own area now, she’s almost 7 weeks.

Mine isn't so little now, but when she was born in the house through incubation she would scream and carry on at night after we went to bed for a good 30 minutes. So what we did for her is set up a radio and found a station she liked to listen to and she would sleep. Might not be that it's afraid of the dark might be that it's too quiet. She's a character all in her own. She's 4 months old follows us everywhere in the house, but refuses to be outside in the snow. Even when she was young I would take her outside and she would follow us all over the yard. She would go to one side of the house to see the dogs then around to the other end of the house to see the ducks. She only likes being outside if we are with her. During the months it was warm we would put her in with the other ducks and my Muscovys would protect her. But she would constantly make all kinds of noise while she was out there because she wasn't inside with us. She's a pretty cool little gal though.

This is my first duck, it’s amazing the personality that he has compared to the chickens. Don’t get me wrong my chickens definitely have personalities. Lol

They quickly get used to the dark. Only takes a couple of nights.

I have night lights in all of my coops. I start them off with lights so they are used to them. I put 1.5 watt LED bulbs which are equal to 15 watt incandescent bulbs. Just enough light.

I have a mirror in there with them also, it’s funny, Mr Duckles will Argue with him self.
