African Swan Goose- Protector of all ducks!!

So, I have a funny story about a goose that goes by the name of Bruce. BRUCE THE GOOSE!!!

We got him from a couple that was getting ready to move and couldn't take baby ducks with them. I got 6 Pekin Ducks and an unexpected goose that lived with the ducks. As the ducks grew older so did the goose obviously. (They were all around the same age.) Now, Bruce follows the ducks around and watches them making sure they stay out of harms way. We recently hatched a couple baby ducks, had them outside in a pen and Bruce would stay right by their side all day. Now he goes to sleep in the pen with the baby ducklings and keeps an eye on them during the day. Its so funny watching Bruce follow all of the ducks around the yard. He is for sure a good mother to the baby ducks and an awesome protector for all of the older ducks we have.

He sure looks like it, My gander loves any thing duckling he was an awesome papa goose last year.

Ganders are wonderful baby sitters! They will accept very young babies and take care of them and guard them. I just love how ganders do that!!!

But yeah, if we even get close to the baby ducks Bruce hisses and looks like he's ready to attack. Lol I've never heard a goose hiss until e started looking after the baby ducks.
