I have one finishing blooming:

I never had luck with them until I got this classroom. They love it in here, so I'm on the lookout for other pretty ones!

My Mum was into African violets for a time.
But nothing like the beautiful selection you have.
Well done - you must have green fingers.
Thank you very much! I don’t know about green fingers. Maybe a little bit after all these years of outdoor gardening, and doing the indoor plant thing off and on my whole life.

@Finchbreeder I know you from the emu threads. I think you have mentioned before what kinds of finches you breed. I know it would be off-topic, but I would love to talk about finches/caged birds too. I bred budgies for 12 years, and also dabbled in finches, Bourke’s and cockatiels along the way. I miss my caged birds, but the dust was too much in the house and once I got chickens, I decided I wanted to concentrate my efforts on those instead.
@Finnie your flowers are gorgeous but I am so in love with the little dachshund cache pot!!!
I know! Isn’t that adorable? That was a birthday gift from my daughter. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be a magazine rack, but I knew immediately that plants would look better in it!

Beautiful and healthy looking! 😍

There are so many factors that affect violets. Some people say they are easy to grow, but if it’s not the watering, then it’s the lighting, temperature or humidity/dryness that does them in. Your classroom must have all the right conditions to make them happy.

I follow a YouTube channel called Grey Turtle. She has done videos on her set up. (She’s the one I’m copying about the glass jars.) It’s crazy how she has a humidifier running to control the humidity around her plants, and then she has to run a fan because the humidity will cause a white mold if there isn’t enough air circulation. She has thermometers and hygrometers on the shelves. It’s like she’s running a giant egg incubator!

Little by little I’m going to incorporate all her methods and see whether each addition improves or detracts from my system.
