Six years ago I decided to dip my toe into backyard chickens. Borrowed a little flock for 9 months, to see if I was into it. Then couldn’t help but fall in love. Ordered chicks of my own to raise up. I was in search of a rainbow egg basket. Picked out all the breeds I wanted for their egg color. 20 weeks later and I collected my first little black copper marans egg. Yay! Then started a horrible divorce. Boo! And just as my rainbow basket of eggs was in reach, it was gone. Sold my coop and flock to a loving family and moved away. Fast forward several years and......... I’m a chicken mama again!!! Yay!! Met the love of my life, married him and now we’ve decided to jump into this adventure together. Going for a blue, green, light brown and dark brown basket again. I selected the following breeds and can’t wait til they lay in August! Welsummer, Wyandotte, Easter Egger and Super Blue from MPC. Our kids love the girls and this has been a fantastic spring planning, setting up a brooder and prepping to put a coop together! I’m so excited!!! Yay chickens
