After egg laid, how long before incubator??

Hi could any tell me real quick how long do I need to wait (if at all) after a egg has been laid by a silkie that I can put the egg in the incubator? Thanks, Julie

Do you mean how long before her pullet eggs are large enough? Or the same day, how long to wait? Wasn't sure exactly what you meant, but maybe my head isn't awake yet this morning. If her eggs are what you'd consider close to normal size for a silkie, go ahead and incubate. Of course you have a rooster, right? I think I remember that you do. Silly question, I know. If you mean the day it's laid, how long you have to wait, I've been known to take them right out of the nest and pop them already warm into the bator when I was waiting for one more egg to fill my "clutch".

Nowwwww Cynthia,,,,,,,LOL ,,,do I have the word Dumb A** in my name? LOL I've always thought it must be stamped on my forehead! OF COURSE I have a roo you goof ball! Why else would I consider incubating? ROFLOLLLLL Hey,,thanks I needed a good laugh this morning too. I'm still drinking coffee too trying to wake up myself.
Anyways,,,,I've never incubated my own eggs yet as I haven't used my incubator since last February when I hatched my first birds. Now they are older and laying their own eggs and yes,,,getting busy too! I have 4 silkie roos, and 1 frizzle white roo. Then I have 16 hens. 2 of the hens are silkie white hens. I figure with the silkie eggs I either will get a silkie or a sizzle. Cute either way. I'm incubating a few other eggs from Adam now and figured I would throw in a few of my own and see what happens. This morning , I reached under one of my silkie hens and got her egg which was still warm of course. I brought it inside and did not know if it needs to rest or what before incubation....that's my question.

So sorry, Julie! I woke up late after a night of oddball dreams so I was just barely functioning. I knew you had a rooster! That info was stored in my brain, but I just couldn't access it yet. I just automatically asked the question. DUH, sorry. I'm the one who has DUMMY plastered on my forehead today!
I have on several occasions just put eggs right from the warm nest into the bator; in fact, to me, that's the best thing in the world! Good luck on your incubation.

Hey Cyn, don't be sorry girl, I've seen lots of people on here do silly stuff and ask silly questions and with some of them,,,this was totally a legit question! LOL Anyways,,,I went ahead and went with my gut before your replied and put the egg in the bator. I was afraid to let it get room temp so I stuck it in there. Now weather or not it's fertile, I have no idea. Won't know till 5 or so days when I candle. It's so cold here I've been getting up the past 2 mornings and dashing to the hen house trying to catch a silkie egg before getting cold. This morning one of my girls was still on the egg so I knew I was safe with that one. Watch it not be fertile! LOL
I also have ordered some buff silkie eggs should be here today or tomorrow. Hope they don't get too cold in their traveling here.
Also have a bunch from Adam; When I candle next week I will post and let yall know what I got on the way. Thanks Cyn

P.S. Yesterday, one of my standard white cochins laid and enormous egg (She lays super duper sized eggs) and for the fun I stuck it in the bator. It was still warm. Don't know if it's fertile but it would be a cross between a cochin and I think my frizzle roo. He's been sticking to he lately. He's a bantam white frizzle roo. Would be an interesting baby for sure
