I'm currently hatching serama eggs in one incubator, and I have silkie and orpington eggs in another, all hatching within a day or so of each other. I've hatched/brooded silkies with large fowl before with no issues, but I've never hatched seramas. I know they can be really tiny, would it be a good idea to set up a second brooder just for them?

Might not be a bad idea to be prepared, but I’ve had them together with larger birds, and they’ve done fine.
I have had seramas hatch kinda weak and frail, but I’ve also had very boisterous ones, so you may just have to play it out and see how it goes.

Good luck with the hatch!

(I have 40 eggs due next week, about half of them are seramas, the others are bantam cochins, cream legbars, and BCMxCL crosses. So I’ll have all sizes too!) lol

Thanks!! Good luck with your hatch as well. Update and let us know how it goes!

I'll have a second brooder on "standby" just in case - but I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm only on day 3 with the seramas so I guess I should see if any make it to hatch first.

Speaking of, do seramas typically hatch on day 21? I've heard they can hatch at 17-18 days, but I'm not sure if that's an oddity or pretty typical.

Mine usually hatch on day 20, or early day 21. Some folks on the serama thread just had some hatch early, like day 17-18, but mine aren’t usually that early.
