After hatching Q

Hi,
How long does it take for a hen to start laying again after she has hatched some chicks?

any where from 1 - 6 months, my silkie didnt lay for about 5 months after her last hatch !!!!

My silkie started back after 6 weeks. Looks like it depends on the hen.

I had one start laying again after about 2 -2&1/2 months, after she left her chicks. Then I have one who is laying, her chicks are still with her, and about 1&1/2 months old.

My Silkie started when her chicks were 2 months old.

I found mine sneaking away to the coop to lay about 2 weeks after hatch. I noticed this because the chicks were outside and would go nuts because they didn't know where mom went. Its the quickest I've ever seen a hen lay an egg, boy is she efficient. Anyhow, she has been laying regularly ever since the chicks fledged the coop.

Our White Leghorn has started laying again this week. Her chicks are 9 weeks, and she still has them with her.
