one of my turkey hens is started laying eggs
after how many weeks are they 100 percent fertile
this is going to be their third week
we had ate them the first two weeks
heard someone say after 5 weeks

Did you notice or look for the bullseye on the yolks from the ones you ate? If you are waiting for 100% then you will be waiting for sometime! Fertility in not at it's best on the hens first year. It also depends on your tom and how often he breeds her and his age too. I would throw some in the bator and see what happens.

A friend of mine had his Royal Palms start laying in early Jan. and put all 14 (so far) in the incubator. 4 have hatched and all but 1 are developing.

I have Royal Palms.. I start setting the eggs as soon as they start laying ..

If you take notice, the turkeys will start mating before they start laying.. therefore I cannot believe that yoou have to wait 5 weeks.. that would be half of the expected eggs wasted..

the Tom does not have to fertilize each egg individually..

one breeding will go a long way/....

The semen of many turkeys is not fertile early in the year. It is not for the lack of trying.

I have gotten 40 or 50 eggs so far this year and have only had 2 or 3 fertile eggs. They are 10 months old and have been laying for about 3 weeks or so.
