I just got 5, 1 year old chickens. I took them from a friend, and moved them to my coop across town. They have been laying for a while now, but no eggs today. I'm of the understanding that I need to keep them locked in the coop for 5 days before letting them in the run, so they can't have laid them anywhere that I can't find them. When should I expect eggs, and am I doing the right thing keeping them locked up?

I got some oaround a month ago and they are just starting to lay again. I had a coyote kill most of flock and I bought 30 one year olds on 17th of January and the past four days I have began to get some eggs. Weather here and daylight factored in too of course. 8 eggs today out of 35 hens.
