My boyfriend brought home a baby duck because it’s family had been killed on the highway, we plan to take care of it until we can put it outside with our neighbors ducks. I don’t know what breed, age, gender, or diet it has. Please give me the information I need to properly care for it until it’s big enough to go outside.

This is just me, but it kind of looks like a goose... what kind of ducks were killed on the side of the road?
I have no idea, I just came home to it in the bathtub lol, but I don’t want to hurt it trying to take care of it for the time being

Do you have a Game and Parks? I'd call them, they were able to save a Long Eared Owl I rescued from a bush.
I don't know where you're from, but like chickens really said, it's illegal to own anything wild. It's strictly enforced here in Nebraska. For now just make sure the little guy has full access to clean water. If it's going to be a while before you get it to a rehabber, you might want to pick up some Chick or Duck Starter feed. NOT medicated. Maybe cut up some vegetables and see if he's interested. I think they like peas?
Please note, I have ZERO experience with geese! I raise chickens.

Good luck with the little guy, he's adorable :thumbsup:hugs

I don’t think it’s illegal here, but then again I don’t know. I will call around and try to find a more suitable place for it though, it’s been eating corn and veggies today and has the option to water whenever it wants. We have a global wild life center but I’m not sure how to go about it. Will definitely figure it out though, thankyou.
