Howdy folks. What is the age difference in weeks/months where separation between new and old chicks is needed? We have 8 birds that are 6wks+ of age right now, and I'm thinking of getting four more to make an even dozen. Something about having an even dozen of eggs a day that sounds attractive.
But I digress. More chicks will be coming in about 10 days, and I'm thinking of picking up 4 more at that time, but I'm curious what kind of separation might be needed since the birds we have now will be 13 or14 weeks old after I take the new ones out of the brooder and introduce them to the flock. Any thoughts?
