Is there a certain age where chickens start to prefer certain foods to others? I have scratch that I get that contains seeds and the birds tend to ignore them except for the older one who is about 15 weeks old. The others range from 3-13 weeks. I notice the same thing with veggies as well, the older ones tend to prefer it more than the younger. Is there any connection or are they just being weird? I know certain reptiles prefer more meat/protein when younger and gradually change to veggies are they age.

Thanks everyone :)

Unless treats are so large that younger birds struggle to get them down, it's more that new things are suspicious and so younger birds seem wary of them until someone else tries them out and decides it's ok.

Like it took me a few weeks to convince my chicks that BOSS was tasty, even though they saw the adults eating them. They really didn't want to try them until one brave soul ate one, decided it was good, then they all wanted it.
