What age can you start giving black soldier fly larvae as treats? I know they have extra calcium so I’m assuming not until my girls start laying eggs.

I have been wondering the same thing. By chicks are on week 4-5 and are taking field trips to our new covered enclosed run. Pecking for stuff in the dirt. I would like a treat to get them to easily come to me when it’s time to take them back inside.

That’s exactly why I was asking also!

I've been giving a few to my three week olds and they're loving them. I figure as long as they have some chick grit so they can grind them up it can't hurt, especially if they're already getting some time outside pecking for bugs in the yard.

I crumble up a few when I offer them so the younger chicks can get a little also. So far so good.
