Was wondering if anyone has experience with Light brahma Roosters being late developers especially in the crowing business.. I got a menagerie of chicks in March and what I am 100% sure is a rooster has still not crowed yet... are the roosters of this breed naturally quiet? I have another breed of rooster that was purchased at same time and they are same age and that little guy has been crowing for weeks!!! These chicks are 3/4 of the way full grown and based on size, conformation and overall masculinity of this guy he for sure is a roo..apparently just a very quiet one!

I don't think breed has a lot to do with it - some just crow earlier or later than others. I've seen video of a roo only a couple weeks old crowing, while most of mine don't crow until around 16-17 weeks of age. I have one precocious little banty cochin who started crowing at 9 weeks, and I've had one late bloomer who didn't start until he was a little older than my "norm".

Brahmas are slower overall to develop, so it doesn't suprise me. I've seen a fair amount of folks posting that same thing here--it looks like a roo but doesn't sound like a roo-- and it's always a roo. They're also less assertive than some other breeds, so if an older more dominant roo is around, they don't challenge him by crowing until they're older and ready to take him on.

Our Brahma doesn't crow. He is a big, quiet fella. He is very gentle and docile and just doesn't have much to say!

My 18 week old light brahma roo has also not crowed yet! He is very mellow. He also gets picked on a bit by my 6 older girls, even though they are smaller. I also have an 18 week old Silkie roo (90% sure he is a roo  )who truly has no idea he is a roo! The two boys get along great, are super mellow and easy to handle/pet. My older girls (26 weeks old) only seem to boss around my LB boy...? Such funny social hierarchy! :p

My Brahma roo started cowing after becoming 32 weeks old. They are slow growers,

Oh that might be my Brahma, I have 2 there both 4 months old. One light colour and one black but getting mixed colour.
One of them make a funny noice in the morning I wonder if it’s a rooster?
My son is 5 and brings both chickens in he’s bed room and in the house all the time they love it they both just lay down close there eyes.
Such sweet , gentle chickens but the size they are getting I might need a bigger coop lol
