I have the following hens. Some are dual purpose, others are for eggs.
1 Austra White
2 Golden Sex Links
2 Rhode Island Reds
2 Amber White
2 Barred Plymouth Rocks
2 Amaraucanas
2 Buff Orpingtons
They are all eight weeks two days old today.
I’m a little puzzled about something. At what age do you butcher a dual purpose bird? Do you butcher them before they start laying eggs so the meat isn’t too tough?
I can’t seem to figure this out. Can someone help me out?
Also, what is the best and most ethical way to kill a chicken?
I’m just trying to make plans for the future.
