So I bought two pullet buff orps, I'm in city limits and have close neighbors so I don't need a rooster causing problems. They are now 13-14 weeks and the one I'm rubbing the beak on has been crowing for the past two weeks, ever since I adopted the Rhode Island Red from a friend. The orps are identical. What do you think? Crowing hen or both roosters?

How long have those combs been red for? The crower is definitely a cockerel. An older, dominant hen might crow, but pullets do not. He also has some visible male saddle feathers coming in on his back. I can't see the other one well enough, to be sure it's a cockerel or pullet.

Combs have been red and prominat since mid June. They were bought at a feed store supposed to be pullets but my buddies orps are a week younger and have no comb hardly it crows every time the neighbors dog barks.

Poor thing! I had a talkative Buff pullet. got worried. She's a hen, I was oddly disappointed! I'd take a sweet buff roo in a hot tic! Here's a pic for comparison. She's 5 mos. Hope it helps!

They are both cockerels. Pullets do not crow, nor do they get such large red combs at such a young age.
