aggresive rooster

besides the obvious is there anyway to keep a rooster from being aggresive towards people especially little kids.....Without getting rid of him..........??

I wouldn't trust an agressive rooster around little kids. The rooster I have now is semi-agressive. He only tends to attack if he thinks you are hurting the hens. However, he has come at me when I was feeding the hens treats out of my hand. 2 weeks ago he came at me when I was trying to get my houdini hen back in the pen. I had a garden stake in my hand and gave him a quick wack on the head. I accidently knocked him out and he has not come after me since. Sooo, you can try knocking him out but that doesn't always work either. A Polish rooster I used to have was so mean I have scars from him. We knocked him out several times and he was mauled buy our german shepherd and our wolf hybrid(he would attack them too.) and he still kept attacking us. When kids are in my chicken pen I watch the rooster very closely.
