I have a mommy hen with three 4 week old baby chicks. Woke up today to one of the chicks attacking the other two, bloody combs and all.
The culprit was taken out and put in the heated brooder with my large wyandotte chicks in hopes to quell his attitude. He saw his first victim and attacked again. Then again, then again. I pulled him out of the brooder since he won't stop attacking every living being he sees. He can't be around ANY other chickens or he will attack. This all happened overnight.
What the heck do I do with a chick like this? Is this aggression only going to get worse? I don't want to breed aggressive chickens. He WILL NOT stop peeping for his mom even though he will end up killing his siblings if I put him in there again, which won't happen. They were bloody and scared when I took him out. What a headache. He will have to have a whole new brooder set up in the garage with just him in it. Is it worth it, or do I need to cull/try to rehome him? I'm not sure what the best thing is to do here. Looking for other opinions on the matter. Here's a pic of the chick with blood on his beak from attacking his siblings:
