Aggressive duck

hi!
I’m a fairly new duck owner and have one male and one female. They both are about 4 months old. The male has always been so so sweet and my favorite one and in the last couple of days he’s become mean. Is this possibly because he’s ready to mate? And is becoming territorial? The thing that bothers me is that he is really nice to me and doesn’t seem to be bothered when I’m around, but he is bothered by my 3 daughters. The second my daughter goes outside he crouches down and stares her down and if she comes anywhere near him he will chase her with his mouth wide open. They’ve always loved my kids and have been really sweet. What does it all mean? And is there anything i can do? Do ducks get choosy with who they like?

Yes, he is maturing and sees your daughters as threats. Your part of his flock so won't attack you. Some Drakes are not worth keeping. Have your daughters carry a long stick and to chase him away to show him they are not to be messed with..
