so my 1 1/2 year old hen Lucy is acting aggressive i have two other chickens a hen i have no idea what breed the same age as Lucy and a rooster my profile pic when i try to give them treats she is nice i then try to stand up and she basically fluffs up her feathers and springs off me and runs at my boots to attack i then back away and leave her alone she repeatedly does it please help!!1

She is the right age for a major molt, and they are evidently quite uncomfortable when molting. If so, it's quite possible she will return to her old behavior in a couple of months when she is through.

Or, maybe this is her "true colors" coming to light. You might enjoy this thread about another hen with a similar personality:

Welcome to BYC! I had a hen who did the same thing, attacked me every time my back was turned. You've received some good advice above, good luck to you.

Welcome to BYC. Show her that you are dominant. Wear gloves if necessary, but force her to the ground firmly when she becomes aggressive. Hold her subdued until she stops struggling. If she attacks again, repeat until she gives up. She now views you as an equal.

thank you all i tried pushing her to the ground and holding her there till she submits and she walked away she has yet to do this and she has had a huge change but i fear she might turn back anything i can do to permanently fix this problem?

thank you that is very hopeful i will play it bye ear.
