I have an adult Rouen male that has become more and more aggressive lately.

He started by chasing our cat, Daisy. It has gotten to the point that if he sees her from any distance he will take off after her. He will chase her into the woods around our house then guard the woods so she can't come out.

I also have 11 ducklings that are almost 8 weeks old. At first he ignored them or only chased them away from the water bowl when he wanted a drink, but in the last couple days he has gotten increasingly aggressive. He has singled out one particular duckling and will chase it like he does Daisy. He will also bite and pull out tail feathers.

Usually my presence is enough to curb his behavior, but that is working less and less. He has even started to charge me at certain times.

I need this behavior to stop. I can't have him threatening the safety of our other animals. Any advice on how to break this aggressive behavior?

I'd give him time out let him have his own space where he cannot torment or injure or kill. Breeding age drakes can really be a handful . Once fall gets here hopefully he'll settle down and your ducklings will be older and beter able to defend themselves or escape his attacks. My drake never went after any of the other animals but he sure went after me ,i never let him chase me but he would jump on me and just being obnoxious so what I started doing was using the broom with him, when he would come at me i would place the broom between us and if he insisted I would use the broom to make him get out of my way, not hitting him but sweeping him away. If he still insisted I would get him down just like another drake would do him flattened out on his belly with one hand on the neck the other at base of body where tail starts and hold him down till he quit squirming let him up and if that wasn't enough and he came again I held him down again. It does take alot of work and persistence but it was worth it and he is now a 4 yr old drake that is most of the time a joy to be around[I still have to remind him I am not one of his girls] but not very often. Does your drake have any girl ducks? When he starts after the cat use the broom, I use it or a long pole to train my geese not to go after the dogs when we're all together. I just put it down between them and the geese are not allowed to go past it if they try they get a pop in the chest just enough to remind them our dogs are off limits.
