Aggressive nigerian buck

In all the years I had goats I only had one buck ever butt me. One. He was a not too bright youngster and he never did it again. I was so angry I grabbed grabbed him by handfuls of hide and hair, lifted him bodily off the ground and dumped him on his side. He landed in a mud puddle. I think I bruised his ego more than anything. That behavior cannot be tolerated. Make sure you never turn your back on that goat.

LOL More like “scared his little butt straight.” The mental picture of that confrontation was priceless.

it might be helpful to put him on the ground. Maybe turn him upside down and hold him there a bit.

I keep one around, I don't use it very often, my current buck is easy to get along with but I have had some turn on me in the past.

In my opinion, it’s not worth it to keep an aggressive buck, especially a Nigerian. There are too many good bucks out there to keep a mean one When I raised Boers, both bucks I had were super aggressive, and no corrective actions ever worked with them. My Nigerian bucks (except for one that I got rid of) have always been super sweet and tame. If you’re not totally set on using him for your does and have the room, it may be best to wether him and see how he does, and if he’s ok he could always be a companion for your new buck. Just keep in mind that if you sell him intact, he’s going to be a problem for someone else and continue to pass on those genetics. But don’t beat yourself up if that’s your only option. Do whatever works best for you

I had a buck that I raised from a little kid. When the vet banded him they missed a testicle and he became insanely aggressive. Used to charge me and slam me into walls, knock me over, etc. He actually hurt me pretty good a few times.

I let it go for a while because I loved him a lot and I had raised him but it isn't worth it. They can seriously injure or even gore you if they catch you right (if they have their horns). If you can't get him to back off, consider banding him or selling him.

It's no issue I've had him in his pen since the incident but for his safety he better not do it again i don't need him

And yes he has his horns but all the better to grab and flip him around i guess

Well i actually didnt know he was behind me i was putting some chicks up and i guess he followed me in and all of the sudden i felt him slam into the back of my leg it didn't hurt really but i was ticked about it
