Aggressive RIR cross mutts

My step-father has RIR's and they are very sweet, gentle chickens. I was surprised the first time my young daughter walked right up to the huge rooster and picked him up. I was looking at him today, actually inspecting his huge spurs, and he was just as calm as he could possibly be. Maybe it's because he handles them a lot, but they seem like great, gentle chickens to me.

I absolutely agree with Kev on this one. Delawares are supposedly docile, friendly birds. I had four chicks that were the meanest, most flighty birds ever hatched here. Their parents turned seriously aggressive, even the hen. I sold even the pullets and had to be convinced to try Delawares again later on. The nasty ones were from hatchery stock and it seemed to me that an aggressive line was being propagated because I heard the same complaint from other people. The ones I have now are fabulous, but they are from a serious breeder.
