Aggressive Silkie Roo? Really???

I have one. My lavender boy is aggressive. Once you get your hands on him, you can do whatever you want....trim toenails, fluff him up, pet him & love him. But he will peck you and latch on with his beak when you reach for him.

He would probably flog me but he is in a small pen and can't get to me. He has flogged the milk jug I use to fill waterers, the feed scoop, and my hand when I try to get an egg from his lady.

I have tried everything to stop it. Even a spray bottle of water! Nothing works.

He is the ONLY aggressive rooster we will ever have. He is good to his one lady I let him have now. He had 3 and was excellent to those too. Not too rough, protective of them, calling for treats, etc. Others get dispatched immediately if I cannot stop the behavior.

You guys are worrying me! One of my "sexed silkie pullets" is a cockerel. I've always read about silkies being really gentle, so I was figuring on keeping him. Now I'm stressing that he may end up being a meanie

I sure hope he ends up a sweetie

Most of my others are sweethearts. I have one other one that does not care for any other roosters. He is good about letting me know who is a roo & who is a pullet. But he is good with the ladies, but a little rough.

I have one splash, he is the biggest baby. DD laughed at him once for wanting to be babied when the one that does not like other roosters chased him around, I picked up my splash and he nuzzled right under my neck. I had to hold, pet and talk to him for a long time before he let me put him down. He is the second oldest rooster I have too

When I picked up two silkie chicks for my flock, the gentleman was nice enough to let us see their silkie pen of 4 hens and a roo.. He told us about how usually silkies have a docile and sweet temperament, but you get the occasional aggressive one. Apparently they had a black silkie roo that kept charging him and pecking his legs to make him leave the pen.. it was rehomed and replaced with a white one. This one had a "much better" temperament and its "act of aggression" was to puff up his hackles and scratch the ground "in our general direction", then to strut off and coo at his ladies that he had "put us in our place".
