So sorry! The favorite, or the needed bird, gets taken first here too. Fate? Bad joss? Whatever it is, it seems to happen all too often.
I'm not up on the 'best way' to do this, and my Marans/ EE mixes were pretty, but not a lot of green or olive eggs either. Mine were EEs, and that's why it went that way here.

So sorry about your loss. I lost my favorite bird several months to a fox during the middle of the day, so I can feel your pain. I still blame myself for not putting her in her pen while I was otherwise occupied. Good luck and I agree with Mary, don't give up and try again and have fun...

They do look pure, but I guess it's possible they may only carry one copy of the blue egg gene.

If you're getting brown eggs out of that cross, the Am's are not pure.
