Aging my birds?

Is there a way to determine the age of my hens? And, is there an age that is too old to butcher and eat a chicken? We have one hen that hasn't layed any eggs since we got her months ago and are thinking about eating her.

I don't know how or if you can guage the age of a chicken, but you can butcher and eat them at any age. You just need to cook slow/low or use a pressure cooker/canner on the older birds or they will be tough.
