I have one hen that's very aggressive towards my others. She pecks them in the head whenever they come around her. She even goes out of her way to follow and peck my smallest hen. All of my hens are 5 1/2 months old. The aggressive one is a brown leghorn. The others are a BR, an austrolorp, and a golden campine. Is there anything I can do to get her to stop? I separated her for now. She's in a brooder in my garage. The other chickens are so mellow and cool. And I hate to see them walking around scared of their own shadows.

She's trying to keep them all in line. This is a hen's way to maintain dominance, by saying, "I'm the boss." Totally natural. I'd bring her back in. She only wants to be the leader and you are disrupting her by taking her away. If any blood is drawn, then you can seperate whoever was being picked on until they are healed. Otherwise, let nature take it's course...
