Agressive rooster?

Ok I have a Buff Orpington rooster (he's almost a year old) and he has 12 hens to himself. Well anyways I have another rooster that is a Barred Rock and he has 10 hens to himself and they are in separate coops. Well I usually let one coop out each day and switch them off. Well today I decided it was such a lovely day and to let all of my chickens out at once. Well my BO started running like full on running and ripping feathers out of my BR roosters hens. And then the BO would come running to his gurls rescue and attack the BO. Then they would part ways. Well this has happened a lot of times and I figured after getting attacked so much by my BR that the BO would learn to stop hurting his chickens. What should I do about this behavior? Plus my BO is SUPER sweet to his own girls but just not the others.

If they’re in different enclosures then you have two different flocks. The roosters are going to fight. Your buff orp might be aggressive towards the hens because he doesn’t get to mate with them. A rooster wants to mate with all the hens. He doesn’t care who they belong to. I think the only thing you can do about this is to go back to letting them out on alternate days. That is if you want to keep both roosters. You could always try to merge the two flocks but that would take a lot of look but don’t touch time.

I have a set of girls I have kept separate for months now. My roosters are more aggressive towards them than they are the girls they bunk with. This is because they don’t get to mate with them that often. My bantam believes these girls are his and attacks anyone who tries to mate with them. But the bantam will also attack the girl who is being mated. I don’t let these girls out often. When I do it’s usually away from the boys.
