Ah Crud... Hidden nests

I was allowing my chickens to roam free during the day, and last week I found 2 nests where they had been laying.. I do have a rooster.. I collected the eggs, and would like to be able to eat them. How do I know if they are edible without cracking them open????

Do the float test! I found a nest of 11 and none floated in water....we ate them all
