So, of course, I can't find the page that said to use acrylic over regular latex.

I did find the page that stated mold is fed by stuff in the wood that comes out through the paint. I think I misunderstood, thinking it said the paint was feeding the mold, sorry about that. The part that talks about the mold feeding off of the wood, through the paint, is under "Reduce The Spore Exposure" section.

I also found this article that states the best kind of paints to use. It also states that paints with linseed oil, and water based paints are the least effective at preventing mildew. :

Good thought, but the sides of the coop are really high, and they don't have access to it. They also have access to the little coop that I use for storage, and are able to reach the moldy spots on that, but they don't touch it. This coop is only just over a year old too, built in Jan of 2011. It is just baffling to me!!

bleach doesn't kill mold it only makes it look like its gone. You have to use a mold remediator and a mold inhibitor to get rid of it or you will be doing this over and over again. jobmax works well. You can use bleach to clean up then used the mold remediator two applications once dry you have to spray it down with the inhibitor to stop it from growing back!
I do it in forclosed houses alot its gross and its the only way. It even that isn't a guarantee. You can also add mold inhibitor to the paint. Lowes or home depot will add it for you and shake up paint

Mix hydrogen peroxide and a bit of water in a spray bottle to take care of the mold.
