Hmmm weird I never heard that before. I lived in Germany for 1 1/2 years and never saw that before but then again we didnt venture to far lol. Interesting fact.

I was posted at Larson Barracks near the town of Kitzegen Germany As a U.S. Army combat Engineer its a small Farming community or was back in the 80s.
As P.R. The Army helped out some of the local Vineyards and farmers with worker shortage's and I worked on a Vineyard for 2 weeks at harvest time and others worked on farms and I got to see some of these farms.

Sorry for being off topic.
My Turkeys are all doing well and the hormone battle is still going on there I,m back on topic LOL.

I will not have to implement it for this storm but I came up with a better plan. I have a rather large crawlspace to my home. I am going to build some quick and easy partitions to keep them out of the insulation and/or wiring and call it a day. That way I can just put them under there for a day or so with some water and call it good.

I take it you don't get flooding on your property near your home? A crawlspace would certainly keep them out of the rain and wind, but I would worry about them drowning if there was any flooding. If there's any chance of flooding at all, I'd rather take my chances letting them ride the storm out outside than risk trapping them in a crawlspace to drown.

No flooding issues for me thankfully.
