We hatched about 40/100 quail in our Hovabaor. They hatched fine, but about three days after the hatch, some started dying mysteriously. But, this has happened before, but we thought it was a temperature malfunction. They are all running around the cage like normal, and they have clean food and water available at all times. The feed isn't medicated, so I was thinking that antibitoic would help in the water. Any advice?

Seems to me you should take one to the vet to find out what they died from so you can better address the problem. Any Agricultural colleges around you?

Not really. I could bring it to an msu extension office; they could send it off to be tested, but that may take to long, and the others would be dead.

I lost a few out of this last batch, also (they finished hatching three or four days ago). Batch before that I didn't lose any - I think it's a humidity/temp thing, personally.

Our summer here has been so weird - cold then hotter than blazes, then humid, then not. I'm having a harder time keeping the incubators stable, so they fluctuate a lot. (I finally turned off the last bator for the summer yesterday

The ones who didn't mysteriously kick off, however, are doing fine, now - it was just the first day or three where I lost any. That, more than anything, makes me believe it was an incubation thing.
