I have an iza brown chicken that appears to have some air bubble looking thing on her neck.i know for sure that it is not the crop.she is about a year old and I just recently got her from a family member.if anyone knows what this might be or how to treat it please reply!:)

Odd. I don't know for sure but it might be that disease that afflicts little finches and other birds, or something similar. We used to see the wild ones end up on the ground, turned into gaseous bubbles with feathers. It was always fatal. But that might not be what your hen has, she might have something harmless....

Anyway, here's some sites that may help. At least, they should give you an idea what it isn't.

An air sac was ruptured. I've had this a few times. Never had one die from it. The air ends up being absorbed eventually, or you can poke a sterile needle through if it is very large and putting pressure on their breathing.

This can happen with injury, even small ones.

Yes, I agree that is sounds like a leaking air sac or subcutaneous emphysema. Most likely it is from an injury, but occasionally it can be an infection. If you stick an 18 gauge needle just barely under the skin into the air space you can squeeze out air from different directions, or use a large syringe. Do this with help so the needle doesn't go to far. Here is a link: http://ijasvm.com/ijasvmadmin/upload/IJASVM_5113cbc51d31b.pdf

Thank you everyone sorry I was so late to answer!

How did your chick get along? Did you have to deflate the bubble or did you leave it alone?
