Air cell on wrong end!!

I think you have to have a camera that will expose the picture for a longer period of time so I dont know if you would even be able to do that. What kind of camera do you have?

Kodax DX 3500 2.2 megapixel is what I have, probably eight years old or so. Pretty basic little camera. Believe me, I've tried many times and many ways to get good candling shots and it just wont do it. Bet hers is something similar.

yeah! That sounds like a nice camera but I bet it doesnt do what needs to be done for a very low light situation.

I have an old film camera that you have to do everything by hand and it was hard to learn but you can do a lot of different things with it. Now adays you can buy a new digital model that has all the manualsettings and the automatic for around $1K (Boy would that buy me a lot of chicken feed)!!!!!!

That's what I get when I try to take ''candling pics'.

I've had lots of chicks pip from the 'wrong end' of the shell and hatch fine (and a few that needed help hatching, so be on the look-out).
There was one chick that (in the turner), flipped itself upside down and the air cell moved with it to the small end. It was 'normal' on Day 14 and when I candled on Day 18 --- I was shocked! I didn't think it was physically possible.
The air cell had motivated to the small end and that's where the chick pipped.
Good luck with your eggs!

I got my computer going again. It must have had a bug last night. It kept kicking me off. I had to download some virus removal tool. It seems to be OK now.
My camera is a Nikon coolpix. It's about 7 yrs old. It has a few settings on it, but nothing like the new ones. Well, speckledhen it sound like we need to ask for new cameras this year for Christmas. I have been thinking about getting a new camera, although I do think mine, it has a very small screen on it and the eyes aren't what they used to be. I have noticed the ones today have these nice large screens that you can actually see the picture on it.
Anyway, thanks for the input.

I have had a couple of odd air sacs two that were definitely on the pointy end and then one that went in an oval down the side none of these ended up developing past day 7 to 10 however I have one in the incubator now that had a floating air sac left it sitting up instead of turning and the air sac seems to have attched however it now looks like a heart and is still developing so far.

Maybe I can help with the camera, look for the macro setting. Normally the symbol is a flower on the dial. Turn off the flash. Use something to steady your arm and take the picture about 8 inches from the egg.

See there, done. Know you can post for all us picture hungy chicken lovers to glak at....
