Would an air sac be developing in the 'bator if the chick were not developing? Is a growing air sac a sign of life?

An air sac can be from the egg drying out and is not really an indication of development. i have sometimes found signs of life as late as 7 days but never after that. At 7 days you should see something! Hold the egg still for a few moments to see if something shows.

A growing air sac is a sign of the egg losing moisture. Which doesn't really indicate anything vis a vis the embryo, I don't think.

What I'm wondering about my own eggs is, does an attached air cell with a yolk attached to it (rather than floating freely) indicate a developing embryo? Logic says yes.
