I left this egg in the bator because I saw movement, but have an appleyard duck in the bator. Well, actully the egg. You know what I mean. Anyway, candled it and the air sac is halfway down the side of the egg. Bird is still alive. Will it survive hatcch?

It will fair betterif it is sitting fat side up for the first 2 weeks. You can accomplish this with egg cartons if you do not have an upright turner.

I finally decided that I get wierd shadows when i candle with a small flashlight. All my good eggs look like that within days of hatching. I think it is just where the chick is pressed against the egg and where it is not.
Both my duck eggs seemed that way and I have 2 very very cute duckies now.....

If the airsac is that way when you set it to hatching - don't use a carton, set it on it's side to finish. It has a better chance of striking into the sack that way...
