air sac!!

Hi hope someone can advise me what to do!! I have one egg left from a totally smashed delivery that UPS and parcel2go did between them! I put it in the incy as it wasn't broken not expecting it to develop at all after the carnage but I thought what have I got to lose now! It's been in 8 days now and I candled it and surprisingly it's developing BUT it is a porous egg and the dark mass is at the top (blunt end) of the egg and I cannot see an airsac, I tried looking on the sides too as it has been shipped VERY BADLY!! and I can't see any airsac on the sides either, is there anything I can do at this stage? its stood upright pointy side down in a cut out egg carton, if it develops to 21 days will it survive if there's no airsac to pip into or will it pip straight through the shell? If by any miracle it did survive to 21 days and I hear any cheeping would you chip a tiny hole in the shell for it to breathe or just leave it. I feel so upset about this whole saga with these cowboy couriers they are the pits! Thanks Carole

Sadly the egg didn't progress any further, I took it out and when I opened it, the yolk was runny and a tiny blob of undeveloped foetus was there. I'm hoping to buy some chicks from a breeder in a couple of weeks time and pay for a private courier to bring them over, should have thought about this in the first place! I'll keep you posted with the outcome! thanks for replying .

Hi Thanks for that but is that USA ? I live in the UK and the chicks are coming from Ireland, why aren't you allowed to ship live chicks after 25th? Thanks

Oooh. Yes, it is. I can't get used to this. I spoke to someone in England yesterday, but didn't know it. I couldn't wrap my mind around why he was going to bed in the middle of the day. Ain't technology wonderful?

Haha! yes I get easily confused too! But I love this website it has so many useful people on here to turn to when no one else has any good advice. I assume you have Marans? I have just bought 2 blue copper marans they are about 9 weeks old never had this breed before so looking forward to see them grow up they are getting quite friendly now.

Oh, yes. Marans can be very friendly. I can't even sit down in the coop without somebody jumping onto my seat with me. Blue copper is my mother's favorite. They would be mine, too if they had a SOP for that variety. I really enjoy the showing part.
