I have 8 Cayuga Duck eggs in my incubator, I candled them today and I have two that have their air sacks on the side instead of the fat end of the egg. Is this going to be a problem for them? Is there any thing I can do to fix them or is it to late? They have been the incubator for about a week now.

just keep incubating them. sometimes nature must take its course. things like this happen they could live but don't expect anything.

. they could figure it out or not. i doubt you could do anything but hope.

You still have plenty time to correct that, which you should. Malpositioned or detached air cells can cause problems for the developing embryo, causing malpositions and problems when they need to hatch. Approximately 2/3's into the incubation the embryo will position itself in the egg to pip into the fat end of the egg, where it will be expecting the air cell to be. If the air cell is not there when it pips internally, it may drown or suffocate in the egg.

What you can do to correct the air cell position is position the eggs upright, with the fat end up. The air cell will slowly make its way up, into the highest point of the egg. It could take awhile, though, so the sooner you turn the eggs, the better. Once you got them upright, you'll need to tilt them, instead of turning the eggs, as you would when they are lying flat. Start by tilting the eggs at a 45* angle, then after a few hours tilt them again, in the opposite direction, again at a 45* angle, so the egg does a full 90* tilt. Repeat every few hours, until you lockdown. By the time they go into the lockdown the air cell should have reattached and you can lie the eggs flat again, for hatching.

Best of luck with your hatch!
