Detached air cells on day 16

I am currently incubating chicken eggs. I had some shipped and several of those had detached air cells. This was the first time I had ever had eggs shipped so I didn't leave them sitting for the air sacks to reattach. When I candles on day seven, I saw the detached air cells, and put them fat end up in an egg carton for the cells to reattach. It has been a little more than a week (day 16) and some are still not attached fully.
My question is, what should I do on day 18? Do I keep them upright? Do I put them on their side and hope the air sack stays in place? Should I just delay putting them on their side?

Thank you

Hi, and welcome to BYC!

On Day 18, I'd lay them on their sides as usual. Most will pip and make it out. After the ones that hatched are dry, and no more eggs are pipped, that's when I'd open it up, take those fluffy ones out, and then candle the remaining unpipped eggs. Put the viable ones back in. They may just be slow.

If it gets to Day 22, and those unhatched/unpipped are ones that are saddled, I'd help them out.

Here's a good article that explains thoroughly how to do it.
