Airsac and humidity

Apologies for the delay, it's been a bit full on here and I have actually spent as much time as possible with the ducklings. That was as much a healing process for me as a bonding exercise.

So here are my guys, I'm so proud of them...

Pip was the first to hatch ...

Then Pumpkin ...

Then the following day and after a bit of help, Scramble arrived...

Yes, a bit raggedy and a lot smaller than the other two but still a prefect little duckling. She's a mummy's girl and I worship her. I'm not sure if Scramble is the correct size or whether Pip and Pumpkin were indeed bigger because of the humidity.

On Saturday we picked up our 3 Alesburys and it made me realise how lucky my ducklings have been. The lady who I brought them off gets them from a big hatchery and I don't think they had ever paddled in water up till that point. They were a bit smelly and not used to people. I had to let them have a 'bath' first and after drying them, to my horror Puddle had strings of mucus coming from her beak. Whilst wiping it she spat out a large piece of egg shell that she must have eaten at some point. Thankfully the bath seemed to have shifted it.

We introduced everyone and they all got on, in a short period of time Puddle, Biscuit and Andi all fell in love with the electric hen although I have noticed that they often just go to sleep standing up on the spot.

My ducklings will come to us for a cuddle when they are tired and after just a day the other three decided that they would love a cuddle too, Biscuit and Andi actually climbing on my son's hand.

I am just so happy right now, the world seems a much better place just for having ducks in it again and I'm looking forward to being a part of their lives and watching them grow.
