Hello everyone! I am a baby chicken raiser (year one - month 2 of my journey). I'm currently bringing up a handful of laying hens (australorp, rhode island red, and white leghorn), a handful of bantams (frizzled cochin and silkie) and a few adorable polish and dark brahmas.
All of my babies were purchased locally in the Salem, Alabama area (Phenix City/Columbus GA and surrounding) from https://www.facebook.com/SandRSmallAnimalsandHatchery/info and http://riverrockranch.biz/index.htm. Both are wonderful to buy from and raise their flocks in clean, wonderful coops and free range.
I've found this website to be the best in terms of information and inspiration. I got my hoop coop design from here and plan to assemble it this weekend with my hubby. We're learning as we go and any information is always considered a huge help in a new adventure.
I'll soon be posting pictures of the babies that I don't know if they are boys or girls. Any tips on knowing if a polish is male or female? How about a silkie?
They are all about 5 -6 weeks.
It's lovely to meet everyone!
