Alabama Egg & Chicken Festival in Moulton

I'm the event coordinator for the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival and we will have chickens to sell for 2009. I'm working now to find the state approved vendors so we have a clean, healthy sale. In years past, we've had tons of folks asking to purchase everything from chickens, to farm fresh eggs and supplies. We've had a guy bring about 100 bantams in and display for the festival. They are a huge hit! So, we have a new section this year called "Down on the Farm" and we hope to provide a good selections for sale for the backyard chicken farmer. I'll take any suggestions you can give to me!

We went this year. There weren't a TON of chickens there (as hoped) but overall I thought it was pretty neat. There was one guy from Moody selling many bantam breeds that were full grown already. He was selling boy/girl pairs, mostly: seabrights, polish, etc...

Then there was another tent where they had adult non-bantams for sale adult, baby, and hatching egg. They had Rhode Island Reds, Jersey, Brahman, Dominique, Amerecaunas and several others (pardon the spelling). By favorite is that they had babies JUST hatched (some minutes ago). He had about 100 or so babies, so there was a good selection, plus his farm's in Cullman, so you cold feasibly go there for an even larger selection.

They also had some nice finger-picking musical bands and the prettiest baby alpaca's. They were so soft (and clean).

Overall, I would have loved to see even more chickens (and to have fresh eggs for sale, hence the festival name) but it was a pretty nice event and the had a pretty good selection. Both men seemed to take good care of their chickens.

There is a fellow near Blountsville that has some for sale, he has some small ones, I don't know if he wants to sell the adult ones or not, but they are beautiful. We bought some bantam barred rocks from him, he has a nice clean place. I didn't see any sick ones. PM me and I will give you his number.

I'm looking for contact information from a lady (and husband) whom I bought four Red Star hens from in May 2010. They lived out in the "boonies" near Moulton. Remember a large shed atop a hill from their house and some moveable cages at the bottom of the hill in a field. Nice folks. I need some more hens and have lost their contact info. If you know who this may be, please contact me. Thanks.
