ALABAMA!!

Glad to hear you had minimal damage Stumpy.

We had very little too. A tarp got ripped off of the coop and one of the bird's 8X8 shade shelters ended up about 50 yards from it's original spot. Must have sailed right over the 6' fencing since that was still up. So, tomorrow, I'll be returning the tarp (had for <1 wk), and digging some holes to bury 1/2 the legs of the shade shelter. I'm gonna have to wake the hubby up early to help me carry the shelter back.

We did have a good amount of snow flurries today. Its the first time I've seen snow in about 15 years so I was very excited. Had a tiny bit that accumulated on my truck and a few other spots.

Hey folks,
New to BYC, located in Mobile and trying to start widening my chicken contacts to optimize the quality of the chicks I get; we work with broodies so they rule the schedule and next hatch date is Jan 14. I'm headed to the Light Sussex thread next as that's our New Year's wish (day olds - maybe Bradshaw/Australians?)

Looking forward to scrolling the posts for regional info re heat issues r/t specific breeds, 'winter' management, organic parasite control, hurricanes, raising cover forage crops, etc. Figure I'll need to check out the FL thread also. Anyone know if there's a Gulf Coast thread?

Rancher Hicks, is it time for me to start looking for you a small piece of land? Say, five acres or so?

DW can't leave yet, but if we could I would. We're getting snow and I'll have to get up and snowblow to get DD out for work in the morning. Some places getting 12 inches or more.

Stumpy, 26 would be good. We expect in the teens by the end of the week. Still we are warm and should count out blessings.

The kids are still going to have to drive back next week.

take care and be well,

Rancher

Does anyone around Marshall county know where to buy some good Ancona ducklings? I want to raise some Anconas for eggs. We have chicken eggs, but I would also like to have duck eggs.
