ALABAMA!!

I got 10 now. I gotta see first how many are boys. The coop is only big enough for 10. Well, technically 8 inside, 9 outside, going by the 4sqft, 10sqft rule.. and I picked mostly VERY large chickens haha.

I am aiming to have 6 to 8 gals left, after all is said and done.

I knew little about red sex links, but the guy seemed knowledgable and said a lot of folks like them for egg production.. Now I see all sorts of horror stories about internal laying and whatnot

They're much darker than my RIR, soooo.. maybe they're something else.

We're done for this year. And I'm ok with that.. I think.. Thank you for the offer though!

Here's to hoping they're not all boys

They sure have some personalities, even at a week old (heck, one of the chicks I just picked up was pecking at an older chick, twice as big!) One of the RIR is super loud. She raises hell when things aren't going her way. The rocks are pretty calm and inquisitive.

Hey,
You might try to get something worked up with Neal Hargle at the extension office. He was saying something to me the other day about him and some other people were wanting to get some things going for the 4h kids around here on poultry. That would probably be something that could be combined, I know the extension office has a small auditorium where they have meetings for things like this. Of course , couldn't have the swap meet there since it's in downtown. But it'd be great to get all folks young and old who are interested in chickens together and learning.
I would love to help get the 4H kids into poultry! I wanted to do that when my boys were in elementary school but I was on midnights then and it wouldn't be easy for me. Jim at Riverside wants to do a speaker at his store as a promotion, but we could do both and invite the 4Hers to attend. He was worried about how to get the word out anyway......hmmmmmm........... a plan emerges..............

I could bring you some ameraucana, easter egger, or Black copper maran to the moulton show.

You could bring me some Ameraucanas! I know you have some adult birds that you would part with.............

After some research, my red sex-link are black sex-link *laugh* come to think of it, I'm not sure if he even said the word red, or if my brain put that one in there.

They're a gorgeous chocolatey reddish brown.

Wisher, yep getting the 4'hers involved would be good, I think if some flyers were made and put up at all the local feed stores,,,advertised on craigslist, flyers put up at local businesses, then the word can get out. I think it's way past time the extension office thought about more than just how to make your lawn greener, dont you?? lol

I still have 6 I'm not quite sure about but my favorite chic is April the ee she is allsmaller than the rest and has taken a liking to me she is always keeping an eye on me trying to figure out how to get up to me

Does anyone know how to get their chickens pullorum tested here in alabama? I know every state is different and I called the extension office and they sent me to the lab up at wallace but I haven't been able to get ahold of them so I thought I would see if anyone has done it before or knows? thanks.
