ALABAMA!!

Welcome to all the new folks.

I was pleasantly surprised to see my taxes were deposited yesterday, woohoo! Needless to say, I got all my lumber, hardware and shingles today. Just need some sheeting and hinges, since what we found at Lowes was pitiful looking. May have to try Marvin's..

Getting closer to being a bonified chicken keeper

Oh congrats! Fabulous news! I remember when we first started buying our lumber and building supplies! *sigh*

I doubt if I will be allowed to go to a show... my 5-6 hens that I planned to get quickly turned into 20 (a mix of hens, pullets AND roos) which my husband adjusted to ok but when the ones in the incubator hatch later this week it's ME who's going to end up on lockdown, lol.

IDK... maybe by April he can adjust to those, too... I'll have to play it by ear.

Been there! At one point we had 37 chickens, ranging from a few days old to a few months, when we first started out. It worked out pretty well. I got to pick the chickens I really liked and sold the rest. Thank heavens for the Clay Co Poultry sale in Goodwater!

Hi Everyone!! We are new chicken owners from Lee County, AL - near Lake Harding....20 minutes from Auburn (War Eagle) and Columbus, GA. We just got our 3 hens about a week ago and we LOVE them already! We choose the Buff Orpington's and they are 8 months old so they are already giving us eggs.

Oh Yeah - I am originally from Florence/Lexington Area and my parents still live in Russellville on their farm. The Military brought us South, but we hope to retire in North Alabama.

Can't wait to learn more about our chickens and add more in the future!

Dana
Hey Dana and welcome! I'm not far from you---WAR EAGLE! ;-) This is the best place for info---glad to have you!

What's up Alabama chicken peeps..

I am overrun with Marans now. LOL. I started off with Silkies but have since shifted my focus to Marans. I saw the posts on the Clay Co/Millerville Auction but I don't have any cages to put them in to sell. Basically I'm trying to sell all my extra cockerels and I'm tired of advertising on Craigslist and Facebook.

Any other ideas?
